You Can’t Be Serious

Today we’re talking about that solemn bond between two people – marriage. (We know, you thought we meant thumb wars.) And maybe we’re being a little alarmist, but it is a rest of your life kind of thing. That’s something you don’t want to start off on the wrong foot! When it ultimately comes down to whether or not your bride/groom will find the humor in a Super Soaker fight on your special day…well, it’s kind of your job as the other half to be able to figure that one out. As always, just our two cents. (We only have one each!)

Good luck and congratulations,
Jeff and Elliott

Dear Jeff and Elliott,

I’m getting married in November, and I love my fiancĂ©e a great deal. I suggested to her that we have the song “Behind Closed Doors” (by Charlie Rich) played as we are leaving our reception. I was told no. Should I surprise her and do it anyway to see her reaction? It could be funny, right?

“You Can’t Be Serious”

Dear Concerned,

Oh what a nice surprise (Here’s a surprise)
You’re sleeping on your couch tonight
What you might have meant as an innocent ruse
Has tarnished my memories and left my trust bruised

It’s your wedding day
Do you want to throw your trust away
For the sake of a laugh?
