Or Check the Manual

Technology isn’t everyone’s thing. This is exacerbated by the fact that devices have become increasingly difficult for a novice to pick up and understand! That’s okay (And even if it’s not you can’t do squat about it!).

Get with the times,
Jeff and Elliott

Jeff and Elliott,

We’ve gone from VHS to DVD and now we’re on Blu-ray. Still, for all the technology, I have this tiny damn flashing 12:00 on the front of my player. What am I doing wrong?

Pissed at a Clock

“Or Check the Manual”

Dear Pissed,

My phone plays MP3s, and can find my skis, What’s the same about these?
I don’t use either of ‘em
My watch can calculate the path of a satellite in outer space. Oh, and it tells time
We’re not against the useful marriage of two different technologies
But as long as my fridge keeps my food cold, I don’t care if it has a TV

The noted fallacy is easily thought of as:
More features equals a better product
So tack on crappy extras in never ending layers
We still cant set the clocks on these damn DVD players

The cases are far and few between of a company successfully merging
Two different products into one creation, and meeting or exceeding public expectation
We’re not decrying the successful utilization of mixed enterprises in the name of innovation
But we could use a little time off – hear our pleas and oh please remove the flashing clocks

Until then we propose a remedy
Just cover the clock with tape so you no longer see
That little flashing twelve as a personal limitation
Or as a source of deceitful information
