Hey gang! Going off to college can be a defining moment in one’s life. (But then again, everything that we experience affects us in some way. That’s how we evolve as individuals!) And it can be intimidating to experience so much change. Still, anytime you’re facing big decisions it’s a good idea to take a step back…or take a deep breath…or take a look – in a book…you get the idea. Slow down and consider your options. Then write us an e-mail asking what you should do! We’re professionals!

Dear Jeff and Elliott,

I’m leaving for college in Georgia in September. My boyfriend however is staying here in Las Vegas. Is a long distance relationship a good idea? We’ve been dating for two and 1/2 years now. It would be sad to break up, but college is supposed to be party time, right?

Please help,
Long Distance in Las Vegas

“To Party, or Not to Party”

Dear Long Distance,

What’s the price of happiness, I don’t know or else I’d put it on my credit card
Can two people find happiness, when they’re living so very very very far

Is the relationship working fairly well, or do you find that it requires fairly working hard?
The key proportion to remember is: Strength of relationship versus how distant you are

Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong Distance Relationships
Don’t have to stop your party time
Unless that’s short for promiscuity
In which case that’s a sign
That you are ready for someone new (or a few someones new)

Take it from me, I’ve tried this thing, it doesn’t work, it only brings
Doubt, mistrust, and a longing to receive attention from a person who you barely see

No take it from me, I’ve also given it a go, and things panned out, but you should know
It takes patience and trust and maturity, you’ve got to eliminate doubt from your mentality

Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong Distance Relationships
Don’t have to stop your party time
You can meet new people while
Keeping your other on the mind
Then you might make it through

The secret: Evaluate your needs
You owe it to yourself to do what keeps
You in a peaceful state of mind. (Just don’t make ‘em commit suicide)
